"Author Box" is the area at the bottom of a post, that contains an avatar, the author’s name (or nickname), a short bio and some icons linking to his social media profiles.


In order to access the Author Box settings, go to WordPress Dashboard > Users > Your Profile or hover the mouse cursor over the WP user name in the top right corner of the page and click on "Edit My Profile".


Setting up your Display Name.

  1. The "Name" section allows you to add your full name or change your user name. In order to change the author’s name displayed on the blog, click on the drop down menu called "Display name publicly as". You’ll see a number of suggestions. Click the one you wish to actually use.
  2. Save changes by clicking on the "Update Profile" button at the bottom of the page.





Setting up the Biographical Info.

  1. Go to the "About Yourself" section and enter a short bio into the box where it says "Biographical Info".
  2. Save changes by clicking on the "Update Profile" button at the bottom of the page.




Setting up the Social Icons.

  1. Fill out the fields where it says "Contact Info". The ones you’ll leave empty won’t be displayed.
  2. Save changes by clicking on the "Update Profile" button at the bottom of the page.




Changing your Avatar.

You can change your avatar at https://gravatar.com/ - when registering, make sure to use the same email address you have assigned to your blog profile.


You can also change your avatar using the plugin - eg. WP User Avatar.
